Hope everyone is well and that 2017 is being kind to you, it seems to be going fast, with fabulous Light Night last week, with a display of Bobbin Lace in windows of ‘Crafty Crow’ bar www.craftycrownotts.co.uk just outside the Nottingham Castle. I just wanted to let you know of some of the workshops that have been set up so far for 2017 (below)

Also I been asked to take part in ‘The Great Nottinghamshire Local History Fair 2017’ at Mansfield Library again this year with Craft demonstrations and have a go pillows, this fantastic free event Organised by Nottinghamshire County Council Library Service with lots of things happening; have a look at http://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/whatson

Workshops
All workshops are a great opportunity to have an introduction to the traditional craft of Bobbin Lace, with all materials and equipment provided. So a great chance to try this traditional craft with a new modern twist, without the any extra expense.

Bobbin lace is a traditional craft, which uses threads attached to bobbins and worked over a design on a pillow. To create a decorative textile items.

Within this workshop you will be introduced to lacemaking tools, basic stitches and simple lace patterns; to make a fabulous cocktail style ring to sparkle at any event It is designed for those with no previous knowledge but want to experience the delicate world of lace.

Within this workshops you will see how the threads are twisted together to form a braid and get an understanding of the equipment used in lacemaking and produce colourful rainbow which can be made into a brooch or magnet; to show off your craft skills. – workshop suitable for all ages and experience

In this workshop you be able to make a bracelet using the lacemaking tools, basic stitches and simple braid pattern. And that’s also how bobbin lace started more than 500 years ago. Braid work contains all basic stitches of bobbin lace, and those who want to master the basic stitches or thoses who want to make a useable piece of lace to show of there new skills.

This workshop introduces lace making tools, basic stitches and simple lace patterns. It is designed for those with no previous knowledge but want to experience the delicate world of lace. Within this workshop you will be able to make a pendant in a wire frame, great to be worn at any occasion.
